Lp-PLA2 is an enzyme found in the blood that plays a role in inflammation and cardiovascular disease. 

Lp-PLA2 breaks down phospholipids, which are fats found in cell membranes. This process releases fatty acids that contribute to inflammation and plaque formation in the arteries. High levels may indicate an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
